Fourteen district employees shared their experience working in the Mehlville School District in our My Mehlville Story series.

The Mehlville Board of Education approved the school calendars for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years at its January 15, 2026, meeting.

At its January 15, 2026, meeting, the Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Tiffany Schwaegel as the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for the Mehlville School District for the 2026-2027 school year.

Three Mehlville School District citizens have filed their candidacy for three positions on the Mehlville Board of Education. All positions are for three-year terms.

Two students from Bernard Middle School and Buerkle Middle School were named Students of the Month by the Mehlville national Education Association.

Mehlville School District is holding open interviews on January 14, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Mehlville School District Central Administration Building, 2900 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.

Filing will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, through Tuesday, December 30, 2025, for three seats on the Mehlville Board of Education.

A Buerkle Middle School teacher received the Exceptional Educator Award from the Affton-Lemay Chamber of Commerce.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Mehlville School District can use up to five virtual learning days if our schools close due to snow or inclement weather.

Mehlville School District students continue to make gains on Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests throughout most grade levels and subjects. In 2025, the Mehlville School District saw more students scoring advanced or proficient on Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests across almost all grade levels and subjects.

Three Buerkle Middle School students were selected for the St. Louis All-Suburban Honor Band.

Proposition A, on the November 4, 2025, ballot, would help the Mehlville School District maintain a routine school bus replacement schedule without raising the current tax rate. This would keep maintenance costs low while ensuring students and bus drivers are safe on the road.

At its annual Tax Rate Hearing on September 25, 2025, the Mehlville Board of Education approved the 2025 tax rates. The 2025 blended tax rate will be $3.7016.

Proposition A, on the November 4, 2025, ballot, would help the Mehlville School District maintain a routine roof replacement schedule without raising the current tax rate. This would keep maintenance costs low while ensuring students are comfortable and learning in their classrooms.

Mehlville School District students will be more comfortable in their classrooms this school year regardless of the temperature outside thanks to summer construction to improve HVAC and roofs. 

The Mehlville School District Board of Education voted unanimously Aug. 21, 2025, to place a levy on the November 4, 2025, ballot that would not increase the current tax rate. Called Proposition A, the levy would fund the upkeep of school roofs, buses, parking lots, technology and safety systems, and HVAC – preserving and protecting district facilities for generations of students.

The Mehlville School District has reconvened a Facilities Steering Committee to support the ongoing update of our Strategic Plan and to seek valuable input from our community to improve our school facilities.

The Mehlville School District Board of Education unanimously approved the budget for the 2025-2026 school year (fiscal year 2026) at its June 26 meeting.

The Mehlville Board of Education is considering a proposal to ensure schools remain safe, functional and supportive of student learning – without increasing the current tax rate.

Beginning Tuesday, July 1, parents and guardians will be required to complete the Existing Student Update when logging into Infinite Campus.

The Mehlville School District has several openings for bus drivers for the 2025-2026 school year and is now accepting applications.

Mehlville High School and Oakville High School held their 2025 graduation ceremonies on Sunday, June 1, at Chaifetz Arena.

At their first meeting on April 3, 2025, members of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee identified five potential themes, or areas of focus, for the 2026-2031 Strategic Plan.

On April 8, Serene Wilkinson and Ann Zimpfer were elected to three-year terms on the Mehlville Board of Education, according to unofficial election results from St. Louis County Election Board.

Fourteen students from each of our middle schools were recognized with Glory of Missouri Awards for representing one of fourteen virtues: Knowledge, liberty, equality, law, justice, fraternity, education, progress, honor, truth, virtue, temperance, enterprise and charity.

With the completion of the new security entrance at Trautwein Elementary School in March, every school in the Mehlville School District now has a safer entrance thanks to our community's support of Prop S.

Elementary and middle school students in the Mehlville School District are learning English language arts through a new curriculum resource called Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts. This resource helps teachers provide students with reading, writing, knowledge and interpersonal skills that will help them succeed in school and throughout life. 

Prop A has funded critical roofing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning improvements throughout the Mehlville School District since the 2016-2017 school year.

The Mehlville Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Julie Durham as the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools and Dr. Jason Landherr as the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools for the 2025-2026 school year.

Mehlville School District will offer its free Summer Session program for all children entering kindergarten through 12th grade, June 2-27, 2025. Registration opens March 3 for grades K-8 and March 25 for high school. Registration instructions will be provided at bit.ly/msdr9summersession.

Mehlville School District is preparing to embark on a year-long journey to draft its Strategic Plan: 2026-2031. As we prepare for 2026, the district will be asking questions and analyzing what we can do better to meet the goals and priorities identified by YOU – our community.

The district showed the most improvement in middle school math, high school government and seventh-grade English language arts.

Our students do unbelievable things everyday, and I am so lucky to get to experience this as I visit our schools. I believe more and more with every passing day, that this is an amazing school district and an unbelievable community. We cannot provide the education for our students at the level we do without community support, and for that I am grateful. 

The 2024 Mehlville School District resident survey will be arriving in randomly selected mailboxes over the next few days. The survey, prepared by Opinion Research Specialists, asks for your opinions and perceptions about the operations and management of Mehlville School District.

Any person wishing to file for the Mehlville School District Board of Education may do so at the St. Louis County Board of Elections, 725 Northwest Plaza Dr., St. Ann, MO 63074. Filing will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024, through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, during regular office hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. December 31, 2024, the office will close at 5:00 pm.  They will be closed on December 25, 2024. Please check the county website for any additional dates they may be closed.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Mehlville School District can use up to five virtual learning days if our schools close due to snow or inclement weather. If more than five weather closures occur, the district will use traditional snow days.

The week of October 7-11, 2024, schools throughout Mehlville School District will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items. The efforts are part of Fill Up the Pickup, a grassroots food collection that started in Oakville during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mehlville School District students had safer school entrances and more comfortable classrooms at the start of the 2024-2025 school year due to summer construction. Several schools received new security entrances, while others received HVAC upgrades and roof replacements.

A Middle School Schedule Steering Committee was formed last school year to research and provide feedback in the development of a new middle school schedule that is anchored in the values of student achievement, providing a structure that allows for increased instructional time, advanced pathways and expanded options, and personalization for students.

Mehlville School District is using Infinite Campus for our Parent Portal and Student Information System starting with the 2024-2025 school year.

The Mehlville Board of Education has unanimously approved several bids to replace aging HVAC equipment. As a result of the increase in assessed values of Mehlville School District properties, the board has approved almost $8 million in bids for HVAC work in the summer of 2024 alone.

Mehlville High School seniors Sam Herbig, Tyler Langford and Luke Mitchell have shared a love of music since middle school. They’re now exploring how to turn that passion into a career in music education by using the MyPath program to mentor middle school students.
